Cultural heritage

Cultural heritage includes buildings and objects as well as crafts, customs, language and memory. All of them need attention if they are not to be lost.

Tangible and intangible heritage

A wooden house, a roof frame, a bread oven or a piece of embroidery says something about the people who made it. Just as important is the knowledge of how such things are made, and why.

Documentation

Documentation means photographs, notes, recordings and testimony, gathered with the consent of those involved and kept with care.

Community at the centre

Heritage belongs to communities. Any activity in this field starts from respect for local people and for how they understand their own inheritance.
